Ask us a questionAs an initial budget reference, publicly listed Hungarian market estimates put a delivered elevator system at approximately HUF 5.5–16 million, with installation adding around HUF 900,000–2.4 million. Shaft construction, electrical work, inspections, transport and import costs may increase the total. For a Chinese elevator, ask for a separate FOB or CIF quotation and calculate Hungary's 27% import VAT, applicable customs duty and local installation costs before comparing suppliers. The final price depends on the number of floors, capacity, speed, shaft dimensions and finishes.
Generally, imports from China into Hungary are subject to Hungary's standard 27% import VAT. Customs duty is a separate charge and depends on the elevator's correct TARIC classification, customs value and applicable trade rules. Before ordering, ask your customs broker to calculate the duty and VAT using the product specifications and invoice value. Also confirm whether your company can recover the import VAT under its Hungarian tax arrangements.
Not automatically. A lift placed on the EU market must meet the applicable requirements of Directive 2014/33/EU, including the required conformity assessment, EU Declaration of Conformity and CE marking. The legal responsibilities of the lift installer are particularly important, so do not rely only on a supplier's general CE certificate. Before paying a deposit, confirm who will act as the EU lift installer, who will complete the conformity procedure and who will provide the technical documentation and user instructions required for the Hungarian project.
Hosting can discuss the elevator's technical specifications and provide available product documentation, drawings and certification materials for review before shipment. For a Hungarian project, send the required load, speed, number of stops and applicable standards at the quotation stage. Ask the local installation company and conformity-assessment body to check the documents before production, because the final EU conformity assessment and installation responsibilities must be clearly assigned rather than assumed to be covered by a factory document.
Hungarian rules require regular technical safety inspections by an appropriately registered organisation. Under Government Decree 146/2014, lifts no more than 20 years old or refurbished generally require alternating main and checking inspections annually, while other lifts generally require alternating inspections every six months. The applicable schedule should be confirmed for the specific lift and its operating status. Before purchasing, ask the local contractor to confirm the inspection and commissioning arrangements and include the related costs in your project budget.
Possibly, but the existing shaft must be measured before selecting the model. For an older Budapest building, provide the clear shaft width and depth, pit depth, overhead clearance, entrance width and available machine-room space. Also check whether the existing structure can support the proposed equipment and whether building alterations are permitted. Hosting offers MRL and machine-room passenger elevator configurations, and can review the supplied dimensions to identify a suitable design before manufacturing.
For apartment buildings, Hosting offers MRL passenger elevators and machine-room passenger elevators; an MRL design may be useful where roof space is limited. Hotels may consider passenger or panoramic elevators depending on traffic and building layout, while hospitals generally need a bed elevator with a car sized for beds and stretchers. To obtain a suitable quotation, provide the building use, number of floors, expected passenger traffic, rated load, shaft dimensions and preferred finishes. Hosting can then recommend a configuration for the project.
Send us your floors, load and shaft size. Hosting will recommend a configuration and send a quotation.
